Hirelings
Hirelings are pre-made characters you can pay to join your party for a daily fee, expanding it from four members to as many as six. Unlike your own characters, they come with fixed stats, equipment and skills — and several of them must first be freed from captivity before they'll take you up on the offer. Below is the full roster, with what each one carries and where to find them.
Good Human Archer — Pathfinder, Swimming
One of two hirelings already waiting at the Inn in Fountain Head when you start the game, alongside Fineous.
Equipment: Cutlass, Chain Mail, Short Bow.
Neutral Human Druid — Direction Sense, Swimming
The other hireling found at the Fountain Head Inn from the very start — useful for a party without a dedicated spellcaster.
Equipment: Mace, Leather Armor.
Good Human Knight — Arms Master, Crusader, Navigator, Swimming
Shackled in Baywatch Cavern (x15, y1) and easy to mistake for just another skeleton at first glance — he was actually turned away from Dark Warrior's Keep for being too honest and loyal for their tastes. Free him, then hire him at the Baywatch Inn.
Equipment: Halberd, Plate Mail, Crossbow, Iron Helm, Silver Boots, Gauntlets, Yellow Fortress Key.
Good Dwarf Cleric — Crusader, Danger Sense, Swimming
Found chained up next to Sir Galant in Baywatch Cavern (x15, y0) after wandering alone into the Ancient Temple of Moo; her healing magic makes her a solid pick for any party. Hire her at the Baywatch Inn once freed.
Equipment: Hammer, Splint Mail, Iron Helm, Fast Boots, Friendship Robes, Green Key.
Evil Half-Orc Ninja — Arms Master, Body Builder, Crusader, Swimming
A Swamp Town Ninja caught spying on the Wildabar clan; whatever his allegiances, he sticks to his word and joins whoever sets him free. Found in Wildabar Cavern (x4, y7); hire him at the Wildabar Inn.
Equipment: Naginata, Silver Ring Mail, Gauntlets, Luck Charm, Life Belt, Blue Key.
Neutral Elf Ranger — Crusader, Merchant, Mountaineer, Pathfinder, Spot Secret Doors
An accomplished Ranger already enrolled in several mage guilds, found imprisoned in Wildabar Cavern (x0, y13) — she prefers solitude but rewards whoever frees her with loyal service. Hire her at the Wildabar Inn.
Equipment: Grand Axe, Chain Mail, Long Bow, Gauntlets, Ebony Medal, Mystic Cape, Red Key.
Good Human Paladin — every skill in the game
Once sent by King Zealot to steal from King Tumult's treasury; when the scheme fell apart he disowned her. Found imprisoned in Blood Reign Dungeon (x14, y3); hire her at the Swamp Town Inn once free.
Equipment: Hammer, Plate Armor, Tiara, Charm, Scarab, Necklace.
Neutral Gnome Robber — every skill except magic
A self-styled bounty hunter who bristles at being called a thief, caught by the Wildabar Ninja clan. Found imprisoned alongside Charity in Blood Reign Dungeon (x14, y0); hire him at the Swamp Town Inn.
Equipment: Broad Sword, Chain Mail, Crossbow, Steel Shield, Boots, Stealth Cape, Pirate Ring, Black Terror Key.
Evil Human Barbarian — every skill except magic
One of the two strongest hirelings in the game, waiting at the Inn in Blistering Heights — at a price to match.
Equipment: Platinum Great Axe, Platinum Scale Armor, Sapphire Ring, Platinum Helm, Platinum Gauntlets, Leadership Cloak, Power Belt.
Evil Human Sorcerer — every skill and spell in the game
The single most powerful (and expensive) hireling on Terra, also found at the Inn in Blistering Heights — he also happens to carry a spare Gold Master Key.
Equipment: Diamond Dagger, Platinum Padded Armor, Arcane Scarab, Genius Ring, Kinetic Cloak, Ectoplasmic Amulet, Vampire Ring, Gold Master Key.
