The dungeon entry passcode
Having trouble entering Dragontooth Dungeon? Your problems are over. First, here's how you were supposed to find out.
The messages on the statues are the key — they speak of the Werewolf Wars, and you need the number of castle guards still alive afterward. The entrance statue tells you how many there were to start: "20 legions of the castle's guard drove the werewolves from Serpent Wood." North of it, another statue reads: "10 legions chased the werewolves across the Great Sea to the Frozen Isles" — so 10 legions didn't survive, leaving 10. A statue near Pathos reads: "A great battle began as the werewolves turned to make their final stand" — not very informative. Another statue, in the room with the Dark Pegasi, says "5 legions fell before the werewolves were finally driven to the mountains" — so 5 legions are left. But you still don't know how many soldiers make a legion.
For that, teleport to a secret room in the southeast corner of the castle. A statue there reads: "Erected in honor of Silver Fang, hero of the rout of the werewolves and leader of 4 legions. (16,000 of the castle guard)" — so 4000 guards per legion. Doing the math: 5 legions remaining means the passcode is 5 × 4000 = 20000.
