Dragon Cavern

Corak's Notes

The Dragon Lord has been hoarding gold for centuries — and parts with it reluctantly. The cavern beneath Mutant Mountains is a treasury guarded by hordes of Draconi and Green Dragons, while the Dragon Lord himself sits deepest within, surrounded by mountains of gold that lure greedy adventurers to their deaths. Four King's Ultimate Power Orbs lie hidden among the treasure.

Dragon Cavern requires no key — the entrance is open to anyone brave enough (or unwise enough) to enter. Find the entrance in area F1 — Mutant Mountains at X10 Y10.

This is a treasure cave — and a cave of death. The Dragon Lord has 10,000,000 experience points and 10,000 HP, attacks at range with an energy blast, and deals 1000 damage per hit. No party that arrives here through normal play can defeat him in direct combat. Focus instead on collecting the Power Orbs and as much treasure as possible while keeping a safe distance from the Dragon Lord.

The four King's Ultimate Power Orbs (points 2–5) are spread throughout the cavern. Some lie close to the Dragon Lord — move carefully and retreat the moment he appears on the map. The Lloyd's Beacon spell will let you return after each recovery trip for the remaining Orbs.

The cavern is full of riches. Chests and piles of gold are literally everywhere: L5 chests hold 50,000 gold and 500 gems, L6 chests hold 250,000 gold and 5,000 gems, and the central piles reach 1,000,000 gold each. The Dragon Lord's hoard (point 6) contains 5,000,000 gold and 10 top-tier items — but to claim it, you must defeat or circumvent the Dragon Lord.

Green Dragons have 800 HP and attack with a cold breath — dangerous, but far less so than their master. Draconi are weaker and easier to disengage from.
