Cathedral of Carnage

The Cathedral of Carnage is the centre of the Moo cult. Ruthless priests ceaselessly attempt to harness the power of the King's Ultimate Power Orbs to control the minds of Terra's people and turn them into obedient drones. So far without success — though it seems a matter of time rather than ability. The altars in the Lock, Key and Cup chambers hide a puzzle whose solution yields enormous riches and Hologram Sequencing Card 004. Many altars also teach spells unavailable in any Mage Guild.

Monsters in the area: Clerics of Moo, Gargoyles, Priests of Moo Cathedral of Carnage is located in world map area B3 — Land of the Gargoyles. Entry requires the Blue Unholy Key from Arachnoid Cavern (X9 Y21).

  • 8Castle Blackwind (X8 Y3, map area D4) — pay 2,000,000 gold for one character to learn all spells.

You need the Blue Unholy Key to enter. It is found in Arachnoid Cavern at X9 Y21.

The Castle, Key and Cup puzzle is the hardest riddle in the game — and the most generously rewarded. Give the Castle answer (WEEDS) to the altar at X1 Y26 to open the vault containing Hologram Sequencing Card 004 and a massive haul of loot. Full solutions to the Key and Cup puzzles (needed to deactivate the force field protecting the Power Orbs) can be found in the Puzzle Spoilers section (spoiler 10).

The two King's Ultimate Power Orbs (points 2 and 3) are protected by a force field — you must first complete the Cup puzzle, then give the code JVC to the altar at the entrance to deactivate the field. Alternatively, you can use the Teleport spell to enter the Orb chamber directly.

Two altars at X13 Y3 and X13 Y11 (points 5 and 6) grant every nearby party member a permanent +5 levels — a combined +10 for visiting both. Do not skip these.

The spell altars (point 7) are located mainly in the Key chamber and the southeast chamber. They teach spells unavailable in any Mage Guild. Each altar can only be used once per character — decide in advance who should learn which spell.
